Grandpa's violin in rock shock
19 January 2005
I inherited my grandfather's violin years ago (you can read about the experience in the bio) and it's been sitting under the desk here for about a decade untouched.
The poor thing was showing signs of neglect. The bridge was bent over with age, and apparently the sound post was in the wrong position - must have been sneaking off to retire somewhere less stressful.
So I took it to the local dealer in fine violins, maker, restorer and repairer, who has done a lovely job of reviving it. So along with the electric guitars, bass, mandolin, and all the computer-based hi-tech recording gear comes grandpa's old fiddle, hoping to join in.
Well, we'll just have to see, old guy...
Do you promise to play in tune if we let you?
